Answer: The insoluble compound which separates out as a solid in certain reactions is called precipitate. It is denoted by a downward arrow(↓).
E.g:
CuSO4 + 2NH4OH --------------------⇒Cu(OH)3 ↓ + (NH4)2SO4
Here Cu(OH)3 is precipitate. The above reaction is a Precipitation Reaction
