Precipitation reaction:

A reaction in which an insoluble solid(also called precipitate) is formed is called a precipitation reaction.In this reaction barium sulphate is a white coloured precipitate and it is insoluble in water.

For example:

Na2co3(aq)+Cacl2(aq) ---> Caco4(s)+2Nacl(aq).
