RADIATION-is actually the release of energy in the form of waves or stream of particles which doesn't require material medium.

This can be low level like microwaves which is called non-ionizing and high level such as cosmic radiation which are ionizing radiation.

In the nucleus, which consist of proton and neutron with electron revolving around it. What happens is any isotope of any element has different ratio of neutron/proton(n/p) only some combinations are stable other however are unstable which are called radioisotopes. Theseradioisotopes want to become stable and release energy this is called radioactive decay.

The word Radiation is just a generalized description for atomic level to visual level(thermal radiation , night vision shades, get that.?)

Unit of Radiation is seivert. More than 2 seivertis potentially lethal. Everything around you radiates as energy is always dissipated in the universe.

Fun fact - banana has potassium which isradioactive and emits ionizing radiation and has around 0.1 micro sieverts.

Banana is radioactive. So are you!

Hope this helps.
