Hi Mate☺️

Recessive and Dominant are allele in a such a way that

Recessive allele and Dominant

if two different allele of same traits are present together then only one is able to express itself and called dominant Allele while other one is suppressed by dominant and recessive allele.

Reason for selecting garden pea in the experiment of George Mendel.

  • Pea plant contain many contrasting traits.
  • it is a bisexual plant so self pollination is present but cross pollination can also be performed artificially.
  • pea plant has very short life span of 2-3 months so large number of generation can be observed in short time.
  • it bears large seed.

Hope it may helpful for You☺️

If the alleles of a gene are different, one allele will be expressed; it is the dominant gene. The effect of the other allele, called recessive, is masked

Heredity is the passing of traits from the parent to offspring through process of sharing genetic information where as evolution is the changes in the heritable characters of a biological population over a successive generations.

Mendel used pea plant as

1 it has a short life span of 3 to 4 months so 3 generations can be grown in a year

2 the reproductive parts of the plant are big so it can be easily emasculated

3 the genes do not show mixing and hybrids were perfectly fertile

many varieties with well-defined characters were available i.e. presence of seven pairs of contrasting

I hope this helps ( ╹▽╹ )
