The sudden and automatic response to a stimulus is called reflex action.

For example:- Removal of hand when we touch a hot object , movement of diaphragm

When we touch a hot object, thermo receptors present in our skin receive the stimulus and changes it into nerve impulses which are carries to spinal cord by sensory neurons. Thereby spinal cord instructs the effectors  through motor neuron then our muscle contradicts and we remove our hand.

The pathway:

Receptor >sensory neuron>spinal cord>motor neuron>Effector

Answer:

Reflex action is the action which acts immediately.

Like when we touch a hot cup of tea our hands get immediately backwards due to reflex action.
