the changes which are temporary and can be easily reversed are called reversible or physical changes

the changes which are permanent and cannot be reversed are called irreversible or chemical changes

reversible changes are those changes when the product has the characteristics as the reactants. Eg. when ice melts it can be changed to ice from water by freezing it
irreversible changes occurs when an product does not 
has the characteristics as the reactants. Eg. burning of paper
