scattering of light means absorption and re-emmission of light. The colour of sky is blue because blue light gets scattered more because of its shorter wavelength. An astronaut finds the sky to be dark in space becoz of absence of atmosphere which is necessary for scattering of light. In the absence of atmosphere, no scattering of light will take place and therefore the sky appears black.

Scattering of light is  phenomenon in which light ray deflected from its path due to its interaction with the suspended medium particle. Sky appears blue because wavelength of blue colour is very less so it is scattered more by the gas molecules present in air. An astronaut found sky to be dark due to absence of gas molecules in space their is no scattering of any light so it appears dark
