Sclerenchyma is the tissue which makes the plant hard and strong....Sclerenchyma is the supporting tissue in plants. Two types of sclerenchyma cells exist: fibers and sclereids. Their cell walls consist of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin.

Hope it helps......

SCLERENCHYMA: They are dead cells. These are long, narrow thick walled cells due to deposition of lignin(a chemical substance which hardens them) Such cell walls are called lignified walls and have pits. No intercellular spaces are present between cells due to lignin deposition. These cells do not have nucleus and cyptoplasm.
