Seasonal breeders are those organisms that breed only during a certain time of the year, if the conditions are favorable. Eg - cows, dogs, horses, pigs and cats. The females of these animals undergo what is known as an oestrus cycle, during which they are open to mating. On the other hand, animals (primates specifically) like chimpanzees, humans and other monkeys are continuous breeders. This means the females of these organisms undergo the menstrual cycle and hence are open to mating throughout the year.

Hope this helps.

Seasonal breeders are animals that mate only during a specific period of the year. The season when the seasonal breeders reproduce is called the breeding season. The breeding period or season of those animals depends on many factors like availability of food and water, optimum temperature, weather and climate conditions. These factors are important for the healthy survival of their offspring.

When Female seasonal breeders are "in season" or fertile and ready for mating, they will have one or more estrus cycles. And at other times of the year, they are anestrus.

When Male seasonal breeders are "in season" or fertile and ready for mating, they may have changes in testosterone levels and testes' weight.

Examples of Seasonal breeders are frogs, lizards and sheeps.
