State party:

  • Any political party that wants to be recognized as a State Party in a state must meet one of the five criteria stated below.

Recognition as a State Party Requirements:

1) In an Assembly General Election, receive at least 6% of the legitimate vote and win at least 2 seats.

2) In a Lok Sabha General Election, receive at least 6% of the legal vote and win at least one seat.

3) In an Assembly General Election, win at least 3% of the seats or 3 seats, whichever is more.

4) In a Lok Sabha General Election, win at least 1 out of every 25 seats from a state.

5) In an Assembly or Lok Sabha General Election, obtain at least 8% of the total valid vote.
