The compound having same molecular formula but different structural formula are known as structural isomers and the phenomena is known as structural isomerism.

★ the isomerism arises simply due to difference in arrangement of atoms that is connectivity of atom within the molecule without any reference to space.
★ the difference in manner of linking may cause different type of changes and the structural isomers.
