The basic structure of anatom includes a tiny, relatively massive nucleus, containing at least one proton and usually one or more neutrons. Outside of the nucleus are energy levels (also called shells), which contain one or more electrons.

Explanation:

— An atom consists of three subatomic particles electrons, protons and neutrons.

—The charge on an electron is the same as the charge on a proton, but the charges are opposite in nature. An atom has equal number of protons and electrons, and is therefore considered to has been neutral.

— Protons and neutrons are consisted in the core of an atom called the nucleus and are bound by very strong forces of attraction.

—Electrons revolve around the nucleus on a definite path called orbit. the number of orbits depend on the number of electrons.
