It means that the plant cell was kept in hypertonic solution therefore it shrank (exo osmosis took place )
However when a plant cell shrinks the contents of a cell move away from the cell wall this process is known as plasmolysis
When u see a cell which has been through the process of plasmolysis n all its components (except the cell wall )has accumulated in a corner you refer to the daigram below as well
