• When a plant cell is kept in a strong sugar or salt solution, the water from inside of the cell comes out. Due to this, the plasma membrane and protoplasm of the cell show shrinkage, while cell wall of the cell remains as it is. Such a cell is called plasmolysed cell. This phenomenon is known as plasmolysis.
