Tethys was formed when Indo Australian plate collided with Eurasian plate.This resulted in the accumulation of sedimentary rocks at a large scale. THis geosyncline came to be known as the Tethys.Later,Tethys folded up to form mountain system of Western Asia and The Himalayas.
