Suppose we took a example

x²+5x+6=0 then for finding out the roots we do

x²+5x+6=0

x²+3x+2x+6=0

=x(x+3)+2(x+3)=0

x+2=0 x+3=0

x=-2. x=-3

Here -2,-3 are real numbers actually real numbers means the numbers which we know the value. I hope u know very well about complex numbers “i” is called complex numbers

Same roots means suppose when we do factorisation for a quadratic equation we got the roots are 2,4 these are not equal roots. If we factorise if we get 2,2 we can call it as equal roots.

I hope this explanation is enough
