- The Indian desert lies to the west of the Aravali hills.
- It's an uneven sandy Plains covered with sand dunes .
- Near Indo-Pak border longitudinal sand dunes are common.
- It has arid climate with scarce vegetation and rainfall below 150 mm per year.
- Luni is the only large river in this area.

The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent that covers an area of 200,000 km2 (77,000 sq mi) and forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan.
