electric current flows through any wire means charge flows through wire in a unit time. charge flows when electrons start drifting from their position, it strikes each other to flow current. but in case of flow of current heat also produced due to collision between two electrons. that's why we say power dissipated in a conductor when electric current is flowing through it.
now , power dissipated in a conductor depends on some factors.
i) current , I : power dissipation is directly proportional to square of current flowing through conductor . means higher the value of current , higher will be the value of power dissipation.
ii) resistance , R :- resistance is a physical quantity which opposes to flow current. higher the opposing quantity , higher resistive force acts in wire then higher will be dissipation power. dissipation power is directly proportional to resistance of wire.
so, Power dissipation = i²R
