Rectilinear motion of light means propagation of light lays in a straight line.

Light rays may be composed of many different colours and wavelengths. They may be like waves. But at the scale of our human eye, they look like very thin straight line rays.

Light rays always travel in a straight line along the direction they travel. They do not bend or travel in a curve.  This is the meaning of rectilinear motion.

Light is consist of seven colours which are Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. But they always move in a straight line and it is known as the rectilinear propagation of light.

So, rectilinear propagation of light is used to define that a light always travel in a straight line in the direction in which it is moving from earlier.

Light ray always travel in a straight line means that it cannot make a curve while moving from one place to another. Light ray does not have the ability to bend .
