Here is your answer
An alloy is a homogenous substance which can be made by melting of two or more elements (one of which is a metal). It is defined as a mixture of metals. The participatory metals are classified as parent metal, which is the base metal for the alloying material and rest of the metals are called as alloying agents. These alloying agents can be a nonmetal or metal in which their contribution or proportion is very small. Otherwise alloys are also represented as solid solutions. They are produced through fusion or electro deposition of two elements.

Examples: Brass, Steel, Bronze

• Brass is made of Copper and Zinc

• Bronze is made of Copper, Tin, Aluminum, Manganese, Nickel, or Zinc (nonmetals also used like Arsenic, Phosphorous, or Silicon)

• Steel is made of Iron and Carbon

Based on the structure, alloys are classified as interstitial alloys and substitution alloys.

Interstitial alloys

In this type alloying agents are smaller than the parent metal or base metal of an alloy. Hence, the alloying agents fill the gap that exists between a parent or a base metal that involves in the formation of an alloy.
