The term 'Classification' refers to the art of identifying the similarities and dissimilarities among the organisms and then putting them into groups according to their most significant features and their relationships.

It helps us to read, name and identify the organisms easily.

The types of Classifications are as given below :-

1. Practical classification:- It is the Earliest clarification. And is based upon the economic importance of the plant varieties.

2. Artificial Classification:- It is also known as Sexual system of classification and is based upon one or more superficial morphological characteristics.

3. Natural Classification:- This types of classification is also called as 'Cladistic classification'. And is based upon the gross morphological characters and the evolutionary relationships among organisms.

4. Phenetic classification:- It is based upon the similarities and Dissimilarities and all the observable characteristics of the living organisms.
