Time is the flow of progression of occurrence and existence. It is the rate at which things happen to be.

It's not clearly understood to most of us and mistaken to be just 'tick tock' of the clock. Ticking of the clock is NOT time but just the rate at which time is flowing for an observer.

If you're somehow able to see the clock kept inside a vessel travelling at or near the speed of light or with relatively high speeds [because attaining the speed of light or even anywhere near to it is not possible (Energy-mass equivalence)], you will feel that it's rate of tick tock has gotten very slow, the higher the speed of a particle the slower time will flow for it.

But for the person sitting in that vessel, time will continue to seem flowing at the same rate he would see when on Earth, because as time slows down so does everything, including that person's speed, his rate of aging, his thoughts, and his thinking processing.

If someone is sent outer space travelling at very high speeds and returns to the planet after a day (for him) he will find that so many years will have passed but for him only a day. It shows how time is influenced by speeds.

If you want to learn to calculate how time for different observers relative to their speeds flows, search for it. Because I don't know but I feel that there must be some mathematical tool for that.

This entire concept revolves around the topic of relativity. Study the Special theory of relativity to have an advanced approach to time and go ahead for General relativity if you want to know more.

It's an extension to special relativity for gravity and accelerated frames of reference, postulating the space-time curves in the presence of mass.
