What do you mean by tonicity of cell? When do cells become turgid and plasmolyse? Explain how? (5 marks)

tonicity is the measure of effective osmotic pressure gradient, the solutions having separated  by a semi permeable membrane has different concentrations in it. there are three types of tonicity: hypertonic hypotonic isotonic
the cells are in a hypotonic condition that is filled with solution and it cannot accomodate anymore solution in it that is known as turgidity o the cell
when the cell gets into a hypertonic solution ater from the cells are released out in the hypertonic solution making it hypotonic and the cells turns hypertonic. that is what plasmolysis is known as
