A hard drive's "track" refers to the circular path on the surface of a magnetic storage media (in this case, a hard drive) on which information is magnetically recorded and from which recorded information is read. It is a physical division of data in a disk drive, as used in the Cylinder-Head-Record (CCHHR) addressing mode of a CKD disk. That track is then divided into "sectors", which stores a fixed amount of user-accesible data, 512 bytes, specifically for hard drives.
