Traits are inherited independently means that the parents' traits do not get mixed in the offsprings, also they will not be dependent on the other traits

For example, if there is a pea plant with green and wrinkled seeds and a pea plant with yellow and round seeds, then the offsprings can also have green and round seeds, here the trait of green colour is inherited independently and does not depend on the wrinkled trait.
