 In the Republic of India, a type of administrative division is known as Union Territory. In case of states, they are ruled by their own elected governments but for union territory they are directly ruled by the Central Government and hence they are called union territory.

There are 7 union territories in India and they are Andaman and Nicobar Island, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haweli and Daman and Diu.
