It means the proportion of parts doesn't have to be constant....
Example: H2O, water, is always 2 hydrogen to 1 oxygen. This ISN'T variable composition....

VARIABLE COMPOSITION means the proportion of parts doesn't have to be constant .....................
For eg.----> H2O i.e. water is always 2 hydrogen to 1 oxygen so this is not a variable composition............... Compounds are never variable, but mixtures and solutions are variable
