The Water Table is found underground where the rock and soil begin to be filled or "saturated" with water. It also marks the very top of the ground water layer.

Water table, also called Groundwater Table, upper level of an underground surface in which the soil or rocks arepermanently saturated with water. It also is affected by withdrawing excessive amounts of water from wells or by recharging them artificially. See also aquifer.
