Weeding means removing of unwanted plants from the crop field,yes it is necessary because unwanted plant reduce the fertility of soil.

weeding means cutting down of unwanted plants. It is necessary because they also absorb nutients from soil which damage the main crops because they are not able to get proper amount of nutrition since weeds are absorbing those from soil.
We can remove weeds by hand picking or by chemicals. e.g. of weed is wild oat is very common weed.
