what do you mean by women and what are they

The word woman can be used generally, to mean any female human or specifically, to mean an adult female human as contrasted with girl. ... Referring to an unmarried female human as a woman may, in such a culture, imply that she is sexually experienced, which would be an insult to her family.

One theory is that woman = womb of man (Eve is created from Adam's rib, so Adam's rib is, in a way, his womb, because it "gave birth" to Eve). The word "wif" or "wyf" that we now spell "wife" originally meant "woman" (not married woman, but just woman).
