Work is said to be done when there is a displacement inn the body. negative work is done for example against friction.. when a body is made to slide over a rough surface.....

Work is equal to the product of force and displacement
Negative work done - frictional force
S=v^2-u^2/2a
Therefore, s = 6.85 km
