what do you mean genetic drift
Answers
Gene migration or gene flow from a population to a new area is called genetic drift
Hey there! here is ur answer! Hope it helps!
Genetic drift can be explained as the frequency in the inheritance of genes for any particular trait.
for example: take the case of the beetles given in the ncert textbook. Almost the entire population of bettles was red. however due to variation in the colour, a blue bettle was introduced. that blue bettle can pass the 'blue' colour gene onto it's progeny. so there were very little no of beetles that were blue.
however when the elephant came and stamped the bettles, and by a matter of chance most of the surviving bettles were blue,,, blue became the colour of most of bettle progeny.
hence what started as a rare variation in the inheritance of a trait became very common in that population. This is the idea of genetic drift
