precipitation is anything that comes down because of the temperature decrease or pressure it can be rain snow Hill fog the main source of freshwater on the earth surface is lakes and rivers because the saline water is present in seas and oceans what is not fit for our conception rainwater is also the source of freshwater but sometimes when it is acidic we cannot consider it as such

Precipitation is any product of the condensation of atmosphericwater vapor that falls under gravity. The main forms of precipitation include drizzle, rain, sleet, snow, graupel and hail. Precipitation occurs when a portion of the atmosphere becomes saturated with water vapor, so that the water condenses and "precipitates". Thus, fog and mist are not precipitation but suspensions, because the water vapor does not condense sufficiently to precipitate. Two processes, possibly acting together, can lead to air becoming saturated: cooling the air or adding water vapor to the air. Precipitation forms as smaller droplets coalesce via collision with other rain drops or ice crystals within a cloud. Short, intense periods of rain in scattered locations are called "showers."
The main source of water is rain which makes brooks then rivers. Humans have learned to collect it, treat it and verify for the absence of residual contaminants for human consumption. There are also water tab from which I get my artesian water but by far, water comes from rivers.
