When an object in water doesn't go down instead it stays above on it then it is called floating and when it goes in tgen it is called sinking.

The things which have more density than particular liquid that undergoes a process called sinking. Similary the objects which have lower density than any liquid and kept on that particular liquid the object will undergo the process called floating.
