Answer:

Hi,

Sedimentation is defined as the separation process in which solids are separated from the liquid. All the solids settle down at the bottom of a beaker and on top, a clear layer of liquid is obtained.

Decantation is defined as the separation process in which two immiscible liquids are separated. This is done by pouring out the clear upper layer of liquid. Separation of a mixture of oil from water is an example of decantation.

Filtration is defined as the separation process in which insoluble impurities are separated from the solution. Filtration is done with the help of filter paper. Filtering mud from muddy water is an example of filtration.

Distillation is the process of heating water to form water vapours or steam, and then cooling the hot water vapours to get back liquid water water.

The changing of water into water vapours on heating is called evaporation.

The changing of water vapours into liquid water on cooling is called condensation.

Explanation:

sedimentation

The process of particles settling to the bottom of a body of water is called sedimentation. ... Layers of sediment in rocks from past sedimentation show the action of currents, reveal fossils, and give evidence of human activity. Sedimentation can be traced back to the Latin sedimentum, "a settling or a sinking down."

decatation

Decantation is a process for the separation of mixtures of immiscible liquids or of a liquid and a solid mixture such as a suspension. ... An incomplete separation is witnessed during the separation of two immiscible liquids.

filtration

Filtration is the process of separating suspended solid matter from a liquid, by causing the latter to pass through the pores of some substance, called a filter. The liquid which has passed through the filter is called the filtrate.

distillation

Distillation is a process where a mixture made of two or more liquids (called "components") with different boiling points can be separated from each other. The mixture is heated until one of the components boils (turns to a vapor).

evaporation

Evaporation is the process of a substance in a liquid state changing to a gaseous state due to an increase in temperature and/or pressure. Evaporation is a fundamental part of the water cycle and is constantly occurring throughout nature.

condensation

Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed into liquid water. In other words, the water in the air, a gas known as water vapor, from your hot shower cooled when it met the surface of the cold mirror. This caused the water vapor to condense, or turn into its liquid form
