ASL stands for --> "Assessment for Speaking and Listening".... The assessment is for 20 marks including both listening and speaking activity. For listening activity, students are given a question paper which they have to answer by listening to the context dictated by the teacher. It is dictated twice so it is imp. to listen it carefully whereas for speaking assessment students are divided in pairs, roll no. wise. Both can speak on any topic for a limited time then your partner as well as your teacher put up some questions to u regarding your topic which you have to answer. Then same is repeated with your partner and at last you both partners have a conversation on some topic or situation assigned to you. It is provided before hand ( few days before ). It is not that much tough if done appropriately but do keep in mind how to pronounce everything.
