What do you observe when:

 1. NaOH is added to iron(III)sulphate solution.
 2. Ammonium hydroxide is added in CuSO4 solution in excess.
 3. CaSO4 is treated with NH4OH.
 4. Zinc sulphate is treated with a little of NaOH.
 5. Lead Nitrate is treated with excess of NH4OH.

Answer:

1) a reddish brown ppt. of iron(III)sulphate is formed which is insoluble in excess of NaOH

2) a pale blue ppt. of CuSO4 is formed which is soluble in excess of NH4OH giving a inky blue colour.

3) a dull white ppt. of CaSO4 is formed which is insoluble in excess of NH4OH

4) a gelatinous white ppt of Zinc sulphate is formed which is insoluble in excess of NaOH

5) a chalky white ppt is formed which is insoluble in excess of NH4OH.
