Hello Dear.
Here is the answer---
HCl is Acidic in nature. This, when the Hydrogen chloride aolution is added to the Blue litmus. Then, blue litmus will turns into red showing the acidic nature of the Hydrogen chloride gas.
Fountain Experiment of the Hydrogen chloride also proves the same properties of the Hydrogen chloride.
Note --- When dry gas is brought near the dry Blue limus no effect will be observed. For the effects to be observed, either the gas should be in the forms of solution or the litmus will be moist.
Refers the attachment for the effects on litmus by the adition of HCl.
