What do you observe when gou drop a few drops of acetic acid to a test tube containing distilled water, phenolphthalein, sodium hydrogen carbonate powder, sodium hydrogen carbonate solution?

(1) distilled water-forms a homogeneous solution,it's soluble in water

(2) phenolphthalein- colourless ( shows acidic property)

(3)sodium hydrogen carbonate powder- gives -a salt(sodium ethanoate/sodium acetate), water & carbon dioxide- Effervescence is produced

b ) . Distilled water : Acetic acid will dissolve in distilled water forming a clear solution

c ) . Universal indicator : It will give orange colour with acetic acid.

d ) . Sodium hydrogen carbonate : It will give brisk effervescence due to the

formation of CO₂ gas.
