What do you see in the future? Work from home, on-site at the office, or a hybrid of the two?

1b) Please elaborate on your answer above.

I feel that the work mode will shift from fully remote to a hybrid model. In fact it already is. Some of the big companies like Apple, are making it compulsory for employees to come to the office at least twice a week. They can work remotely for the remaining three days. This is to ensure that the company’s sensitive data will be secure on the office premises, with official protocols in place. It will also help if employees come face to face for crucial collaborations.

2a) What will actual offices (on-site) look like post-Covid?

Since most of the world has got used to working remotely, it is difficult getting employees back. So, offices have already started making structural changes. They have changed the ‘work attitude’ by adding a strong dose of socialisation to the office. People have greatly missed socialising with others, and that is what companies are trying to focus on.  Hence, common m_etIng rooms have become bigger and more lively, to make people want to come to work and to encourage creativity in a happy environment.

2b) What technologies, features, design, etc. do you envision for the office post-covid?

The post-Covid offices will definitely have Covid protocols in place. There will hopefully be sufficient distancing between employees. Full size UV ray disinfecting machines might be placed around. A lot of things will be hands-free, like automatic doors, washroom doors, offices may even have a greater employee tracking system in place to keep a check on who meets who. Sanitizers and masks will continue being used.

3) Do you see co-working spaces surviving? Please explain why you think they

Yes, certainly.

Firstly, with vaccination drives happening all over the world, sometime in the near future, the pandemic will cease to be a pandemic. Things will return to normal, including working in co-working spaces. The national and global economy will go into an overdrive, to make up for the lost time and money.

Co-working spaces are a part of the real estate industry. This industry, like others, has its ups and downs, but no segment gets completely washed out.

So, it might take some time, but co-working spaces will certainly make a reappearance.
