Answer:
Mumbai, July 16 (UNI) An exhibition by noted painter Kanu Patel commenced at the Museum Art Gallery here today, displaying a series of landscape paintings in water colours and oil on canvas using a knife.
The theme for his landscape paintings from his 'Nostalgia of Atitrage' collection consisted of rural and small town settings- bullocks in action, village squares, lanes and shrines.
He has used pastel colours, showing his uncanny sense of setting, his power of observation and imagination. The size of the subjects, distances and spaces between them were realistically potrayed.
Changing tracks and trading his brush for a knife, Kanu explores the mysterious 'Yin', the female principle in Chinese philosophy, with the Indian principle of Tattvas in the 'Zing and Zap of Yin' collection.
The oil paintings portray the harmony and affinity between Yin and the basic elements of the cosmos -- earth, wind, fire, water and space.
His third theme was a continuation of ''Rainscape'', which he started in 2006, where he ''attempts to understand the complex spectrum of reality...superimposed by pleasure-scapes and pain-scapes of human existence''.
The exhibition was attended by a number of well known artists like Dev Kumar and stars like Neena Gupta.
Patel was born in Visnagar, Gujarat in 1966 and studied painting from the Fine Arts Vallabh Vidyanagar. He has also tried his hand at acting and Art direction. As a painter he has won a number of awards and fellicitations.
The exhibition will be on till July 22.
