I think that the mother and father are way too strict on that child. The father refuses to buy him anything of his interests, maybe because he cant afford for it , even then he could have been more affectionate and fatherly towards the little boy, Explaining his situation on money could also have helped maintain a healthy father son relationship.The mother at least could have sided with his one and only child like any other mother would do.
