Pablo Escobar was a psychopath, as simple as that. A very smart psychopath (or at least sociopath) but a psychopath nevertheless . What he did was always thinking in himself. Stories that talk about he was like a Robin Hood are just a way of some people to try to understand why he gave money to many poor people, but I believe he did it so they would help him afterwards (so he did it because he was selfish, not because he cared). He wanted to pay for the external debt not because he cared about the country but to stop being chased (selfish behavior again).
