The idea of keeping secrets from others or family itself isn't a good idea.If we started to keep secrets from family, then they wouldn't trust us as they will think that he/she has many secrets also which he/she hasn't told or shared with us( even if it is your first and last secret).

And in the case with others,they don't even bother to know your truths also!

But personally,as a person I would like to recommend not to keep secrets,if you keep then it will mean two things:-

1) you don't trust them.

2) you don't consider them as your family.
