I think this is in the olden days like during the Mughal Dynasty or the Delhi Sultanate. If so then the answer is :
1) Their soldiers were lacking advanced warfare tactics.
2) Their army didn't have fast and agile horses.
3) They followed the traditional war rules. Like no fighting after sunset, etc.
4) The soldiers had elephants in their army, which would create havoc and stamp their own soldiers if they got scared of the loud canons.
