What do you think of Antonio and Shylock with regard to the signing of bond?

during the signing of the bond, shylock tries to be a friend to antonio but antonio refuses it. shylock states the past events like how antonio had called him a dog and spit on him and still he is ready to help them.
I think antonio was rather rude during that scene and shylock was hurt. antonio was too proud of his christian culture and basically shylock got angry which led to the bond.
