Raavan was great devotee and dedicated. But being skilled is not enough, you should use it for right purpose. Raavan used it for violence and adharma. All his tapasya for attaining power to rule world in adharmic way and he was disrespectful to women. So he is indeed bad person and need not search for good in him to get inspired.
