What do you think the buddha meant when he said that every man is a river?

I think what the Buddha was meaning by telling that every man is a river is that a man's emotions, feelings, all his thoughts are never the same as they flow like a river and the flowing river is never the same in its entire course. and he also meant that people change no matter how long or short time it takes, just like a river.
