What do you think we can do to prevent the recurrence of the same ? earthquake?

We cannot prevent earthquake from happening. We can't even predict when the cursed phenomenon would occur. No agency nor scientist has been able to predict a major earthquake till date. Though research is being done, we are still ages away from being able to predict earthquakes.
However, precautions may be taken and people can be dissuaded from building their homes in earthquake-prone areas or zones. Perhaps some time in the distant future we may be able to predict earthquakes by using sensors embedded in the earth.
