It depends on whether they are loyal to the current administration or loyal to the wishes of the Founding Fathers (and Mothers!). To seek short term gain is most likely and most damaging: it will destroy the country in question. The result will be chaos (civil war) followed by a reorganization based on the values of the ‘winners’. It’s happened before; it will happen again.
